This new engine was the largest production car engine in the world in 1970. A total of 28,842 Eldorados were built compared to 76,403 for the DeVille model.

Base price was $6,903.00 when new. The Eldorado tail lamps were now more slender, and the grille was narrower and separate from the headlamps in 1970.
