“Let's face it, that clunker is neat!”

1957 was the first year of styling changes to the Thunderbird with a new, heavier bumper in the front, new grille, fins added to the rear, and a higher rear deck lid giving it a larger trunk. There were several other minor changes both inside and out, which contributed to a fairly extensive new look. This Bird had portholes in the hardtop, which about 75% of the Thunderbirds came with. Thunderbirds cost about $3,400 when new, and weighed about 3,299lbs. There were 21,380 Thunderbirds produced in 1957. Thunderbirds have come and gone, but none will compare to the original 1955-1957 Thunderbirds in cool 1950s styling. |
